Connecticut’s allocation of 1.5 million donated eggs will be distributed over the next 36 months, WFSB reported October 14. In its updated report, the outlet said Connecticut Foodshare outlined the plans during a Wednesday news conference in Wallingford.

The distribution is the implementation of an earlier settlement, not a new award of 1.5 million eggs. Attorney General William Tong’s June 29 announcement describes a $3.3 million multistate settlement with Cal-Maine Foods, Versova/Centrum and Hickman’s Egg Ranch. It also requires the producers to provide 53 million eggs to food banks and community-service organizations nationwide.

Tong’s office said the investigation concerned alleged coordination of bidding that influenced a daily egg-price benchmark from roughly June 2022 through March 2025. The announcement identifies Connecticut’s monetary share as $95,686, separate from its egg allocation, and says donated eggs must meet food-safety and regulatory requirements.

WFSB reported a Wednesday distribution start, but its updated account does not identify a verified pickup date for a particular Eastern Connecticut pantry. The three-year allocation should not be read as a promise that every pantry receives eggs today or that a household can collect a fixed number on demand.

Foodshare’s own website describes a network of more than 650 pantries, meal programs and mobile distribution sites and provides a mobile-pantry locator. Residents can use that locator or contact their regular food-assistance provider for current arrangements; the general locator is not an egg-specific reservation system.

The sources reviewed do not establish a town-by-town delivery schedule, quantities per visit or an egg-specific eligibility rule. Those details remain follow-up questions for the rollout. Foodshare lists its public information number as 203-469-5000.

Update, October 14, 2026, noon Eastern: WFSB’s account now describes the Foodshare news conference as having taken place. The earlier version of this article described the announcement as forthcoming; the local distribution gaps remain unresolved.
