UNCASVILLE — UConn defeated Syracuse 72–52 at Mohegan Sun Arena on October 13, according to the Huskies’ official postgame report. Syracuse’s athletics results index also lists the men’s game as final with the same score.

Connecticut led 31–26 at halftime after Syracuse twice drew level in the opening period. A 15–3 second-half stretch helped the Huskies pull away; the advantage reached 61–40 with 6:40 remaining, UConn reported.

Na’jai Hines scored 17 points, Silas Demary Jr. added 13 and Nik Khamenia finished with 12. UConn held Syracuse to 30.6 percent shooting, won the rebounding battle 41–33 and forced 16 turnovers while committing nine.

The result closes the men’s portion of a two-night preseason showcase in Montville. The Basketball Hall of Fame’s event listing placed the women’s matchup October 12 and the men’s October 13, bringing the former conference rivals to the Uncasville arena. These were exhibitions, not regular-season or conference games.

UConn’s postgame account identifies Michigan State in East Lansing on October 20 as its next preseason opponent. Tuesday’s performance offers a first competitive look at the team, not a regular-season win or evidence of conference standing.
