NORWICH — Firefighters rescued a driver trapped in a car that entered a brook on Montville Road early October 10, according to published accounts citing Norwich Firefighters Local 892.
Daily Voice reporter Cecilia Levine places the response near 84 Montville Road at about 5:48 a.m. NBC Connecticut’s report also identifies that time and the East Great Plain and Norwich fire departments as responding agencies.
The rescue required crews to secure the vehicle before trying to free the driver. Daily Voice describes a grip hoist attached to the front of the car, followed by hydraulic tools used to remove the driver’s door. Firefighters then brought the person out using a ground ladder.
Montville and Mohegan fire departments also assisted because the crash occurred near the town line. American Ambulance transported the driver to a hospital, according to Daily Voice.
An account by Eric Bedner published by Hearst described photographs showing the car partly over a retaining wall, with its rear in the brook. That description helps explain why stabilization was part of the response, but this site has not independently analyzed the rescue photographs.
The reports reviewed do not establish the driver’s current medical condition, the cause of the crash or a subsequent police finding. Their overlapping details trace back to fire-department information; agreement among articles should not be mistaken for separate eyewitness confirmation.
